The Series ‘Balancing Still Lifes’ are photographs of temporary installations. Objects of different weights and sizes are set to balance (with) each other.
Trough this balance they are building a union that is not given naturally and invite the spectator to open up a new approach on noticing the individual objects. My interest for ontological questions that are exceeding my ability to answer them is reduced to that single moment of balance. Existing only for a brief moment, those fragile arrangements are eternalized in a photograph.
I usually work in series therefore what happens between the work is just as important as the work itself. Not only the associative connections I make are important but also the way the spectator links the works to each other.
